Catching up
JUST SAY NO TO WHEAT!!!Cody's food allergy test came back this week and let's just say that everything we have in food storage can wipe him out Ü He is severely allergic to wheat, eggs,milk.cheese,casein,gluten,soybeans and goat's milk.He is moderately allergic to turkey,rye,chicken and other things that we have to rotate.
THANKFULLY, he is all clear on fruit and chocolate Ü
It did catch me by surprise how I was taken back to age five, when first diagnosed with Diabetes. I remember feeling so upset at having my food choices so limited and having to take a "snack" to birthday parties, when the other kids were having all the goodies. Cody was initially upset and I understood, but he has so many choice alternatives I did not and I wanted him to see he was not as limited as he thought. I wanted him to feel that he was still able to enjoy foods, but he had to learn to read labels and make different choices. We went to the health food store and he and I went down isles and bought things for school lunches. He was really good with it all and was surprised at how much he liked it . He loved rice milk already and that was an easy transition. John and I have decided that we doing this with him. For me it was great because I always wanted my family to be more health concious anyway and we will be....it just costs ALOT MORE money and makes eating out more challenging!
Anyone have a good recipe for a wheat free/egg free/milk free

Emily left for Hawaii on Tuesday. She has phone mailed me pictures everyday....beautiful sunrises, geckos and Hawaiian ice cream with sprinkles Ü She is job hunting and has a good company possibilty lined up, where she may get her schooling paid for. We are keeping our fingers crossed. Her boyfriend Damion is a wonderful young man . He comes from a family of eight and is used to the chaos we roll with here Ü He reminds me alot of my Uncle Mark and he said John reminds him of his Dad, who has passed away. He has been very supportive of Emily and a gentleman...parents appreciate that Ü
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxBricen is still not well . I have missed a family campout and our trip to Six Flags before Em left because I was in ER with this poor little one. He has eyes running now and so much in his little chest that he cannot get it out. It has been a LONG month. He is on the nebulizer just once a day now, but I am looking forward to all these sickies clearing and getting outside a bit. He just turned six months old and is wrapped around our hearts intensely...it will be hard saying goodbye when the times comes. He is eating and sitting up by himself and rolling all over the place. His sister learns fast. She chews on EVERYTHING and climbs like a little monkey. She has to be constanly watched, but we have enjoyed having her here and it has been nice to see her creating a bond with her little brother.
A few nights before Em left, she and Cody and Bricen were napping together in Cody's room. Maddie our dog decided to joing them. It woke Em up when Maddie sneezed on her and there was alot of giggling. Bricen made some funny faces and the last picture of Em trying to match his is hilarious. Can you see his eyes???

It Comes in THREES
When things in this household go awry, it is in threes.
Never just a simple incident here or there, but the semi-tsunami type Ü
As you can tell by the background I have, we are anxious for spring and some SUNSHINE! It came about five days ago and I was thrilled to just go out and sit. However...this is NOT advised if neighbors are burning poison oak and pine among their trash items! My eyes soon started to burn and really hurt. They have been red, swollen and painful/itchy for a while now and it was the baby's Doctor who diagnosed it yesterday on me...that's another story.
Bricen, now almost six months old, had his shots again Thursday. Since he had such a severe reaction to the five they gave the first time, I insisted on only two and asked for the HIB ,which I suspected affected him adversely the first time. He ended up in the exact same high fever pattern as before. Let me also preface this by saying that his Dr was hacking and noticeably not well that day and also went on about all the kids with RSV and Bronchitis that had been in. Lovely, I thought,I just gave it to Bricen. Here I had been keeping away from public places to spare him and he was infected at the Dr's office! Saturday night he began coughing and breathing hard. John and Em and Cody were camping and I stayed home because I expected adverse shot reactions again. Bricen's breathing became so labored, that I had to take a four hour trip to the ER Sat with him. His chest x-ray showed his left lung swollen and he had a ton of mucos. They put him on steroids for four days and amoxocillian for other probs. I was confused that they did not do a breathing treatment.
Cody had been VERY ill for almost two weeks a month ago with a 103.5 and up fever and reactions to a very nast bug that went around here. I noticed that he still had a cough that lingered and some swelling in his nose. I took him in yesterday and he had a non-communicable little infection in his upper bronchial tissue and his nasal passage were swollen. His Dr said normally she lets that ride out, but because he DOES have a low immune system and it had been so long, she was giving him Amoxocillin to boost the healing. She also said there was a bad 24 stomach flu going around.....I did not even need to hear that info Ü
Bricen the SAME morning was breathing so terribly I was worried about him. So after Cody's appt I took him in. They gave him a nebulizer treatment ,which made a significant difference in his loud. squeeky attempts to breath. He was also prescribed one every four hours as needed.
Of course all this occurs days before we planned our family trip before EM goes to Hawaii. We all were going to Six Flags this weekend. They are still going, but I will be riding the Mother Monsoon here with the two little ones. I was looking forward to seeing Ammon and Andrea's new little baby boy, but will have to settle for pictures. SO YOU"D BETTER SEND THEM YOU TWO Ü
